Playwriting with Heart, Humor, and a Dash of Sass

Theater kid? Absolutely.

In 2021, I graduated with my BA in Theatre Arts from Boise State University, where I focused on dramatic writing, stage management, and lighting design—basically, all the behind-the-scenes magic that makes a show sing. I also trained at the National Theater Institute at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center, diving headfirst into acting, playwriting, and musical theater writing.

In 2020, I was honored with the CCC Award for musical theatre writing and spent that summer as a resident artist at Surel’s Place, where the ideas were big and the snacks were excellent.

My play & Through The Woods has been produced across the country, including runs at the Minnesota Fringe Festival and Storyfort Festival, and had its world premiere with Brick By Brick Players in 2024.

Right now, I’m deep in development on a new musical called BL!NK with my incredible writing partner, Elke Myers. We also had our first all-ages musical, The Wind in the Wildflowers, receive a staged reading at Boise Contemporary Theater—a wildly joyful experience we’re still buzzing about. More on both projects soon—promise.

BL!NK

BL!NK is a vibrant, feminist musical that follows Sadie and Natalie, two ambitious twenty-something women navigating friendship, love, and the cutthroat tech world. While Sadie struggles with uncertainty and the weight of unrealized potential, her driven best friend Natalie is determined to turn their revolutionary, women-centered dating app into the next big thing. As the app gains traction and attracts the attention of major tech players, the duo is thrown into a whirlwind of success, forcing them to confront the challenges of ambition, loyalty, and self-discovery. BL!NK asks the age-old question faced by twenty-year-old girls everywhere: "Okay, my dreams came true… now what?"With heart, humor, and a hot-pink punch, BL!NK explores what happens after your dreams come true.

The Wind in the Wildflowers

The Wind in the Wildflowers is a whimsical, fiddle-filled adaptation of The Wind in the Willows, reimagined with an Idahoan twist. Set along the rushing rivers and wildflower-lined meadows of Idaho, this heartwarming musical follows three unlikely friends—shy and sensitive Mole, bold and adventurous Ratty, and the extravagant, thrill-seeking Toad. While Mole prefers the quiet comforts of home, Ratty is always chasing adventure, and Toad is consumed by her latest obsession—automobiles. Whether racing downriver or zooming through the countryside, Toad's reckless ways soon attract the attention of the cunning Weasels of the Wood, leading to trouble. As Toad gets caught in the Weasels' schemes, it's up to Mole and Ratty to set things right. With Idaho’s wilderness as their backdrop, the friends must outsmart the Weasels, rescue Toad, and restore harmony to their home. Along the way, Mole learns that bravery isn’t always about grand adventures—it can also mean standing up for the ones you love. With a fresh, femme-forward twist on a beloved classic, The Wind in the Wildflowers is a joyous celebration of friendship, nature, and self-discovery, brought to life with bluegrass-inspired melodies and heartfelt storytelling.

Summer is Here

"Summer Is Here" was the first piece written for The Wind in the Wildflowers. When Grace shared the lyrics with Elke, she immediately envisioned infusing the song with a distinctly Idahoan sound. This recording is from a staged reading at Boise Contemporary Theater. In the full arrangement, the piece features both guitar and fiddle accompaniment, capturing the spirit and texture of the region.
